Storylines

Crime film storylines often follow either:

Ø  The criminal themselves                              

Ø  The criminal’s victim

Ø  The person in pursuit of the criminal

Crime film examples:

Ø  Fargo - A pregnant Minnesota police chief investigating roadside homicides that ensue after a desperate car salesman hires two criminals to kidnap his wife in order to extort a heft ransom from his wealthy father in law

 

Ø  The Silence of the Lambs - In the film a young U.S. FBI trainee, seeks the advice of the imprisoned Dr. Lecter to apprehend another serial killer, known only as "Buffalo Bill". 

Ø  Reservoir dogs - A gang of thieves carry out an armed robbery on a diamond warehouse. The police are after them so quickly that they suspect they have a rat in their company. This film starts right before the robbery, with flashbacks to before the robbery and to the planning of the crime. We are also introduced to the main characters in flashback mode. Plenty of fast action and plenty of blood and gore.
