Sub-genre - Settings/Locations

Sub genre: Crime

Setting/Location

Settings/Locations in a crime film often consist of:

Ø  Big towns and cities – If the crime film is also a gangster film then it could be filmed in big towns are cities such as New York however our film is going to be a crime and horror film

Ø  Crowded places – This provide a view of the secret world of the criminal, as mentioned before, crime films are often subgenres of a gangster films

If paired with the horror genre settings/locations of crime and horror films would typically be:

Ø  Houses – The house of the victim or victims family would be a place which would be significant to the film (our film especially as this is where the crime will take place)

Ø  Dark streets/Alleyways – These specific locations add to the mystery of the film, the audience may see shadows and think it’s the murderer when it might just be a person passing by
