Shot reverse shot is when shots alternate between two characters, usually in a conversation. This allows the audience to see the facial expressions of characters as they talk. The shot used is usually an over the shoulder shot.

The 180 degree line

The 180 degree line is a basic guideline regarding the on-screen spatial relationship between a character and another character or object within a scene. The imaginary line called the axis connects the two characters and the camera is kept on one side of the axis for every shot in the scene.
